He established the Liver Transplant program at the King Fahad National Guard Hospital in Riyadh
in 1993 and was known as
the 1st program in the middle east. He also established the Hepatobiliary Unit at King Saud
University and King Khalid
University Hospital in Riyadh, reactivated and established the Liver Transplant Program at KFSH
& RC Riyadh in March
2021 and started the living donor liver transplant program at KFSH & RC Riyadh in November 2022.
Prof. Al Sebayel was the former the Chairman of the Department of Liver & Small Bowel
Transplantation &
Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery and was the Director of the Liver Transplant Program at King
Faisal Specialist Hospital
& Research Centre (KFSH&RC). He was also the Head of the Division of Hepatobiliary Surgery at
King Khalid University
Hospital and College of Medicine Riyadh and was Chairman of the Department of Hepatobiliary
Sciences at King Fahad
National Guard Hospital Riyadh.
He founded the National Donor Promotion Program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Pan Arab
liver Transplant Society
in 2006.
