The Saudi Society for the Study of Liver Diseases and Transplantation (SASLT) operates under the jurisdiction of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and affiliated under Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. In accordance with SCHS regulations, the SASLT General Assembly, which comprises all active members, convenes annually. These meetings serve as a platform for presenting the report of the outgoing Executive Board and initiating the nomination and election process for a new Executive Board.
Upcoming General Assembly Meeting
The next General Assembly meeting is scheduled yearly as per the call of the Board of Directors, a period chosen to maximize attendance, as most members are anticipated to be in town. All eligible members are strongly encouraged to participate in this crucial event and voice their perspectives on potential candidates for the Executive Board.
Nomination Process
The process for nominating individuals to the Executive Committee or other SASLT committees is governed by the following criteria:
1. Must be an active member of SASLT.
2. Must be a board-certified practicing consultant specializing in one of the subspecialties related to SASLT’s focus areas.
3. Must reside and practice within Saudi Arabia or another Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country.
4. Must be nominated by at least 20 active members of SASLT (self-nominations are not permitted).
5. Must have fulfilled all fee requirements.
The nomination window opens six weeks before the General Assembly meeting and remains open for two weeks. The nomination process is conducted electronically to facilitate accessibility and efficiency.
Voting Process
The election of the new Executive Board from the pool of nominated members takes place during the General Assembly meetings. Specific details regarding the voting procedures will be provided during these meetings to ensure clarity and transparency for all participants.
